The interstice of psychology and spirituality fulfill the trove of source material of the work. Although I believe Art creates some grand thing, a force in its own right I continue to bring my studies into psychology, particularly positive psychology into my life and Artwork. Long has been my reflex to linger the line of abstraction and representation. This continues, yet, more spacial abstraction into a symbolic reality, more of a mind space than the physical realm. The altar, a place between the great beyond and everyday life seems a natural kinship to the studio. A space to connect.
Investigations in paint show a repeating cast of characters. Often began as collage, a particular symbol is explored and many iterations made. Once it arrives on canvas then the color and composition are long resolved. The mark making in the moment serves best the decided color palette. At this point a departure from the source material is toyed with if the success of the painting in itself needs to edit further elements, then so be it.
